Our fourth and last day of lectures added a little twist to the academic program of this final week of the DDM4SME Summer School 2022. While the last days focused on current legal issues in the digital economy, today Prof Austė Kiškienė, rector of KSU Vilnius and Prof Mindaugas Kiškis, also affiliated with KSU, focused their lectures more on the management related issues. This emphasize the approach of the DDM4SME project that it is of high relevance that legal education in the digital age must also lead to the understanding of respective business strategies.

Our second day focused on various aspects of data protection and cybersecurity. Don Ferguson, affiliated with the University of Göttingen, delivered to the participants first-hand, the main legal ways how to prevent cybersecurity incidents in an international organization. Prof Zsolt Balogh from Corvinus University of Budapest followed on this with an in-depth explanation how advanced data mining my conflict with GDPR regulations. The final of this very practice-oriented day was a discussion loaded presentation from Don Ferguson on how to negotiate cybersecurity terms in contracts.

DDM4SME Summer School on Data Economy Law: First Day

The first multinational DDM4SME Summer School on Data Economy Law started today with 25 participants from four continents. The one-week attendance phase in Reichenau an der Rax was preceded by a two-week online preparation phase. During the Summer School, selected modules of the new LL.M. Data Economy Law (starting October 2023) will be piloted and led by 14 lecturers from the partner universities. The Summer School offers in-depth lectures on selected Data Economy issues as well as application-oriented case studies.
