From May 19 to May 20, 2022, the CICL 2022 (Conference on Innovation and Communication Law) took place at the University for Continuing Education Krems. The event was dedicated to current topics of interest (Copyright in the Digital Age, NFT, platform service provider etc.) and their implications to the field of innovation and communication law. During the program, the international participants got the chance to exchange ideas and strengthen their relations within the community. At CICL 2022 almost 40 speakers from various scientifiv institutions placed in four continents (Europe, North America, Asia, Oceania) participate at this conference in Krems.
Two DDM4SME representatives, Prof. Clemens Appl from University for Continuing Education Krems and Prof. Pavel Koukal from Masarykova University Brno, took the opportunity to introduce the DDM4SME project to the CICL Community, the milestones already achieved and to explain the upcoming events to the audience.
On 9.5.2022, a team of researchers from the DDM4SME project consisting of Prof. Clemens Appl (University of Continuing Education Krems) and Prof. Philipp Homar (Johannes Kepler University Linz / University of Continuing Education Krems) participated in the „Research & Policy Workshop on Data-Driven Economy“ which was held at the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt) in Munich. The workshop was organized by Dr. Roland A. Stürz, Head of the bidt Think Tank.
Students from TGM Vienna, a Technical College in Vienna, dedicated their final thesis, which is part of their maturity and diploma examination, of the legal framework for innovations in the field of smart products. They focused on the needs of Start-Ups and SMEs. Their work resulted inter alia into a guideline document for StartUps and SMEs. The students just finished their joint thesis and submitted it for examination. Their Project was supported by the DDM4SME consortium.
On September 21, 2021, the IP-Day took place at the Vienna University of Economics and Business in Austria. The event was dedicated to the latest trends and developments regarding intellectual property law. The conference addresses the Austrian scientific and practice community in the field of IP Law. DDM4SME is an Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership of four EU universities aiming at a multinational L.L.M program, which provides interdisciplinary education from management skills. technological knowledge to in-depth insides into transnational Business Law, IT- and IP-Law as well as Data Protection Law. The LLM program shall increase critical thinking and strengthen competitiveness of SME and StartUps in the Data Economy.
